acceptable use policy

You may not send, store or transmit content that is illegal under EU or Belgian law, including content that incites violence or terrorism, fraud, phishing or credential-harvesting pages, and material subject to a valid removal order.

This is the rule that matters most on an email platform. You may not:

• send unsolicited bulk email, or send to any list you cannot show consent for;
• send to purchased, scraped or rented lists;
• use the Service to relay or proxy traffic to disguise its origin, or operate an open relay;
• generate abusive outbound traffic of any kind.

This is enforced strictly, because outbound abuse gets the platform’s addresses blocklisted — and the people who pay for it are the other tenants whose legitimate mail then bounces.

You may not send or host material that infringes copyright, trademark or other third-party intellectual property. You are responsible for holding the rights to everything you send.

You may not send or store child sexual abuse material, content that sexualises minors, or non-consensual intimate imagery. There is no notice, no warning, no cure period and no appeal: the account is terminated immediately and the matter is reported to the appropriate authority.

You may not probe, scan or attempt to compromise other tenants, the host infrastructure, or any system you do not own, and you may not use mittera as the origin of an attack on a third party. Finding a flaw by accident is not a violation; exploiting it, or looking further once you have found it, is. If you trip over something, stop and read §9.

You may not run cryptocurrency mining, distributed computation for hire, or denial-of-service tools on the Service. mittera sells email delivery, not general-purpose compute.

You may not resell the Service, nor run a separate commercial product on a free tier in a way that circumvents paid plans. Building a product on mittera is what the platform is for, and is not resale. Reselling mittera itself is.

Every account is provisioned with sending rate limits and quotas. They are not punishments and not a hidden tier — they are what stops one tenant’s accident from becoming everyone’s deliverability problem. Hitting a limit is not a policy violation and nothing happens to your account. Deliberately working around them — splitting one send into a loop designed to defeat a limit, or opening accounts purely to multiply allowance — is a violation. If your legitimate workload needs more headroom, write to support@mittera.eu rather than engineering around it.

Security research on mittera is welcome. Write to security@mittera.eu first, test only against your own account, do not degrade the Service, stop at proof, and give a reasonable window before disclosing publicly. Research within those conditions will not be treated as a violation.

Enforcement is proportionate. Immediate suspension, without notice, is reserved for the severe cases: child sexual abuse material, an active outbound attack or live spam run, and a binding legal demand. Everywhere else the Operator will contact the email on the account, describe the problem specifically enough to act on, and give reasonable time to cure.

To report content or activity that breaches this policy, email legal@mittera.eu. For anything involving a security flaw, an active attack or exposed credentials, email security@mittera.eu. Please include what you observed and where, when it happened, evidence you can share safely, and how we can reach you.

This policy may be updated as the platform changes. Material changes are posted here with a new “last updated” date.
